If you are passionate about what you do, you will always wake up each day eager and energised. But if you are obsessed, some nights you won’t even want to sleep. When was the last time you did something for the first time? When was the last time you took something known, and made it unrecognisable? Something is considered perfect not when you can’t add anything more to it, but when you can’t take anything away from it. Passion is healthy. Obsession is obligatory to create anything that breaks into the sphere of art. Art isn’t only a painting, a sculpture, or a drawing. Art can be anything you do, as long as you push it past the usual parameters and understanding. Pushing it right into no man’s land. You won’t know many people there, nor will you recognise the surroundings, but, you will feel at home because you are meant to be there. And every so often, a passer by and you will make eye contact for a little longer than usual, and they will doff their hat at you, and you will nod silently in response.
No words will need to be exchanged, but you will both recognise the artistic flame that burns in one another.
