Greywing Francolin on top of the world – and on the edge of that proverbial world. I get to live and appreciate this world. Our little world. With many special moments doing this thing we call our life, but this is a special one. Baggio of Ourano pointing a nice sized covey of Greywing Francolin, backed by Alba of Ourano. This is art in my humble opinion. This entire scene. The setting. The hues. The scale. The dog work leading up to and ultimately on this find. This is hunting, true, challenging hunting. This is what it is all about. I had to take a moment here capturing this photo before walking in. Drinking in this view, and that eerie silence when dogs go on a find – not even the wind stirs for some reason. It’s deafeningly quiet. Not everyone has the strength and courage to step away from what the world tells them is “right”, and the “right” way to live. And I’ve had my moments amidst challenges when I think “is this worth it all?” But then moments like these arrive, and I know it all makes sense. I know it’s what I should be doing. I refuse to be just another pawn on the chessboard. I will never submit to that pressure.
Ps maybe this is exactly why I fortuitously named my kennel, ‘Ourano Pointers’ – the sky, heaven – this photo seems like it is in the sky. Almost like another planet, another world suspended high up.
Always chasing the horizon.
